Week One
Address the membership in a welcome communication.
Arrange meetings/calls with department heads to discuss operational goals (GM, Superintendent, F&B).
Arrange meetings with committees (Golf, Greens, Mens, Ladies, Couples, Juniors).
Establish a presence: Show up at Club, Assess the operational layout, systems & resources.
Review Golf Operations Budget

Weeks Two & Three
Staffing: Identify and meet returning staff.
Evaluate staffing needs. Create job descriptions and posts.
Assess and address labor budget.
Post jobs to PGA Links, GBN, NEPGA and local schools. Begin interviews and hiring.
Finalize merchandise assortment plan, contact reps, begin ordering. Reopen accounts as needed.
Assess golf calendar and work with management & committees to finalize upcoming year.

Week Four
PGA Show:
Observe new trends, finalize opening orders, begin Fall ordering.
Order necessary supplies for the season.
Address and order operational supplies, fixtures, capital items that fit into the goals/direction of the Club.
Plan Demo Days and Fitting Events with vendors.
Gather ideas for event gifts where applicable.
Network and continue hiring process for Assistants.

Month Two: February
Begin process of Pro Shop merchandising. Paint? Carpet? Fixtures? Be ready for merch.
Review tournament files, meet with committees to gather historical data and future goals for each event on calendar.
Assess programming: Establish programs that will bolster use of the entire facility in an organized fashion. Get Golf Ready, PunchPass, Just Play 3, Summer Juniors, PGA Junior League, Family Fun Days.
Begin specific event set-ups in tournament software program (Golf Genius, EventMan).
Continue to meet the membership. Keep the door “open” and continue to be present/available.

Month Three: March
Continue merchandising: Create attractive, welcoming shop atmosphere and displays.
Marketing begins! First events are right around the corner. Communicate opening days and Spring programs.
Communicate programming plans and professional goals for the season.
Communicate Pro Shop services: Merchadise Assortment Plan, Club Repair, Instruction Availability.
Plan and hold staff meeting to finalize prep for season.
Attend/contribute to managerial and committee meetings in prep for season.

April & Beyond
Implement, Assess, Adjust!
Always improve.
Meet with or speak to outing representatives to get ahead of planning their event.
Publicize a list of playing opportunities and get out with member groups.
Assess the market for Pro-Am travel opportunities and deliver.
Represent the Club in Professional events in the community.
